The Glock 27 is designed to be compact enough for convenient carry in a pocket or ankle holster. The GLOCK 27 Gen5 pistol, chambered in .40 S&W, is particularly suited for a variety of applications due to its smaller size.

The Gen5 model features a flared magazine well with a larger funnel for easier reloading, as well as the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) which incorporates more aggressive polygonal rifling, a target-style crown, and tighter chamber specifications. Ambidextrous slide stop levers enhance ergonomics for left-handed users and those shooting with their support hand. The design eliminates finger grooves, and the Safe Action System ensures that the safeties disengage sequentially as the trigger is pulled and automatically re-engage upon release. Additionally, the enlarged floor plate facilitates easier magazine removal, and the customizable frame size includes backstraps in two sizes with a beavertail, allowing users to adjust the grip circumference to suit their hand size.
