The Manix 2 XL represents a larger iteration of the Manix 2, featuring a blade measuring just under 4 inches. This blade is secured in an open position by Spyderco’s innovative Ball Bearing Lock mechanism.

This locking system consists of a free-floating steel ball bearing housed within a sophisticated polymer cage. Upon opening, the ball bearing advances onto the ramp of the blade, where it becomes wedged, thereby ensuring the blade remains securely open.

The spherical design of the ball allows for unrestricted rotation, enabling the lock to self-adjust across a broad surface area, which guarantees a smooth and reliable lock-up each time the blade is deployed. The blade is crafted from CPM S30V steel, exhibiting a full-flat grind and featuring jimping positioned above the prominent 14mm Spyderco Round Hole.

The G-10 handle incorporates liners that extend beyond the scales, forming a scalloped design around the edge of the handle to enhance grip. This design element prevents the knife from slipping during use and is particularly effective when wearing gloves.

Additionally, the liners contribute to the handle’s overall rigidity and lightweight strength. A three-screw clip is included, which can be adjusted for ambidextrous use, allowing for tip-up carry for convenience and comfort.

The knife also has a large lanyard pipe to protect various types of cords or thongs.
